Final Fantasy VIII

Instructor Trepe, I'm still one of your dearest students, aren't I?
Quote by: Seifer

Jumbo Cactuar

Jumbo Cactuar is an optional GF that you will only obtain when completing a Side-Quest. You have to go to the Cactuar Island east of the Centra Ruins with the Ragnarok and fight Jumbo Cactuar there. It is stated in-game that long-term Junctioning of Guardian Forces causes memory loss to the user, because the GF draw power from the same section of the mind that stores memories, so using them is not without risks. I think Jumbo Cactuar looks funny, especially when he performs his attack, 1000 Needles. And I think the little Cactuars in de Desert are just totally cute! This one is like Daddy Cacti!

Cactuar's attack is non-elemental based and he is the second most powerful GF in the game. His damage can't be reduced by a high defence or support magic and Boosting isn't necessary.

Location

Once you're in the possession of the airship, The Ragnarok in Disc 3, you can pay a visit to the Cactuar Island, it is a small island east of the Centra Ruins. In the desert sands, you'll see a small green creature that appears randomly. This small creature is the Jumbo Cactuar, an ancient Cactuar that has grown to enormous proportions. Land on the island and chase down the Cactuar. Defeat it and you'll get the Jumbo Cactuar GF. Refer to the Side-Quest Jumbo Cactuar for more info.

Jumbo Cactur's Attack: 1000 Needles

Cactuar's attack is the second most powerful GF in the game. The damage inflicted is directly related to the Cactuar's level. 1000 Needles causes 1000 points of damage for every 10 levels of Cactuar's experience. So at level 100, the attack causes 10.000 points of non-elemental damage. Also, the damage from Cactuar's attack cannot be reduced by a high defence or support magic, plus Boosting isn't necessary.

Useful Abilities

The best thing about Cactuar's abilities are his five Bonus abilities. They should enable you to customize your character jsut about any way you want. Unfortunately, you get Cactuar so late in the game you may not really get to enjoy the full benefit of the bonuses.

History

The Cactuar (サボテンダー Sabotendā) is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy games. And he is one of the few Guardian Forces to break the damage limit of 9999 points of damage in Final Fantasy VIII.
