Final Fantasy VIII

One of these days I'm gonna tell ya 'bout my ROMANTIC dream!
Quote by: Seifer

Siren

Siren is the first GF that you come across that you can just draw from the enemy as if it is a spell. She's definitely not the only one, but it can be easily forgotten, since it is a boss fight and you might concentrate only on defeating the enemy and not checking what he has for you to draw. It is stated in-game that long-term Junctioning of Guardian Forces causes memory loss to the user, because the GF draw power from the same section of the mind that stores memories, so using them is not without risks. Siren does her attack with grace, while playing on a little harp, letting the bewitched water do its thing. I wondered for a long time, whether the 'wings' attached to her head is her hair or just wings, but it looks cool if you ask me!

Siren is a non-elemental Guardian Force, but she's awesome against enemies that use a lot of spells, since she'll inflict the Silence Status effect, which prevents the enemies from using any magic. That is, as long as they're not immune to the status effect.

Location

During the SeeD Field Exam in Dollet, you'll eventually end up on top of the Dollet Communications Tower. You will then be forced to fight a battle against the Boss Elvoret. If you check his drawable spells, you'll find Siren in his list: draw Siren from the Boss and she'll be available for junctioning after the battle. If you did miss Siren here, there's a second opportunity to draw Siren. That is in Ultimecia's Castle, from the Boss Tri-Point on disc 4.

Siren's Attack: Silent Voice

Her attack is non-elemental, so it can be used against all types of enemies. But you must be aware that it's also not as powerful as most of your GF's. The attack will have a big chance of casting the Silence status effect on the enemies, as long as they're not protected against Silence.

Useful Abilities

One of her best abilities is Move-Find, which will allow you to see hidden Draw Points and hidden Save Points when you explore the world. These Draw Points will remain invisible on the World Map even if you have Move-Find equipped. So without the ability, you'll blankly have to guess where they are. Another great ability is Treatment, which will allow you to cure almost any type of abnormal status effect instantly for one character. She is also one of the few GF's with the ST-Atk-J and ST-Def-Jx2 abilities. These will enable you to Junction magic that causes or defends against abnormal status effects with your attack and defence. When used properly, these abilities are extremely helpful and powerful throughout the entire game.

History

Siren (セイレーン, Seirēn) is a recurring Summon in the Final Fantasy games. She is portrayed as a beautiful woman who plays a harp. Her attacks focus on inflicting Silence on the opponent, and also do minor damage.
