Card Queen

When visiting Balamb Town you may see a woman standing near the Train Station on the stairs. You can find her there already during the Fire Cavern Mission. This is the Card Queen. She will remain here until you have won or lost a level 8 Card or higher. After accomplishing this, talk to her and she will give you a hint as to where she will head next and your quest has started. Just loose a level 8 Card or higher to her and win it back from her at the next location to get her moving. She'll head to any of the following locations: Shumi Village, Dollet Deling City, Winhill, Eshtar, F.H. or the Lunar Gate

You must chase her around the world until you find her in Dollet. Talk to her normally and a fourth option will appear: "About your artisan father". Select this option and she will ask you to give her a specific Card in a Card Game. The first Card she asks for is the MiniMog Card. Start a Card Game and select the MiniMog card and four level 1 Cards. Now loose the game and she will select the MiniMog Card. Why? Because her father will create a brand new Card for you, which you can win from someone else in the world. Each of the Cards created by the artisan are Rare Cards. There is no other way to get them, than from the Card Queen.

By giving her what she requests, she will then move to another location. You have to chase her down yet again and play her until she's back in Dollet. You must do this five times to get all the Cards she asks for to get the new Rare Cards. Make sure you save often, very often, since things can go really wrong and it can get very frustrating at times. She doesn't only changes the rules, but she also plays by every one of them. Also, she won't allow you to decline to mix the rules. If she asks you to mix, you have to mix the rules before you can continue.

This is a time consuming Quest and you may need to hunt down another Card to get to loose it to her, before you can win another Rare Card. On this page, you will see some tables to determine where the Card Queen moves to and the requested Cards.

Card Queen Locations

Card Queen says... She's heading to...
Galbadia The Galbadia Hotel in Deling City
FH On the Train Tracks in Fisherman's Horizon
Esthar The Presiential Palace in Esthar
Trabia The Hotel in Shumi Village
Centra The Hotel in Winhill
Dollet The Pub in Dollet
Balamb Balamb Station in Balamb
Far Away Lunar Gate's Concourse Area

Present Location Will Move to...
Balamb Dollet (37,5%), Deling City (62,5%)
Deling City Balamb (12,5%), Dollet (15,5%), Winhill (12,5%), FH ( 62,5%)
Dollet Balamb (37,5%), Deling City (62,5%)
Shumi Village Balamb (25%), Dollet (50%), Lunar Gate (25%)
Winhill Deling City (12,5%), Dollet (37,5%), FH (25%)
FH Dollet (12,5%), Winhill (25%), Esthar (62,5%)
Esthar Dollet (12,5%), Shumi Village (25%), FH (12,5%), Lunar Gate (50%)
Lunar Gate Random Area, any of the eight and she gives you no clue on her destination

Card Queen Locations

Card Given Card Created Where to find new Card
Deling City: Man in black across the Junk Shop
FH: Flo, Mayor Dobe's wife
Esthar: Presidential Palace, Presidential Assistant in blue
Balamb Garden: Student sitting on the bench outside the Library
Timber: Pub's owner, the man behind the right counter

Another Option

There is another option to get all of the Rare Cards without having to complete the long and frustrating quest above. You must first challenge and defeat all of the CC Group members before you get to Disc 4. Then in Disc 4, find the Ragnarok and head to the Escape Pod Crash site. The Card Queen is hiding in the Abadan Plains, just to the south of Esthar. Keep in mind though, that there is no visible sign of the crash site on the World Map. Scour the southern tip of the plains until you enter the area.

The Card Queen will appear here and she has al of the Rare Cards in her deck. But be warned, she plays the Random, Same, Plus, Wall and Elemental Rules, along with the new Cards. Please, make sure you SAVE before entering the area. And, it's well advised to save every time you get a new Card. This way, it'll be a lot less frustrating and it will spare a lot of time as well. It will also be less time consuming compared to the actual quest. It's up to you which of the options you take, you will get the Cards both ways. You can also refine the Cards and get them back from her or the Diamond Duo in the hanger of the Ragnarok.
