Final Fantasy VIII
Why don't you try to show a little more passion...? You know, like me!
On this page, you can see some of the other Quests for Final Fantasy VIII. The table below with the Quest details doesn't count for the stuff at the bottom, about Disc 4.
Side Quest Details
By revisiting Timber, you'll get the chance to save a girl from an oncoming train near the Dollet Station. Doing so get you a free night in the Hotel, plus it enables you to pick up a copy of Timber Maniacs inside the Hotel Room.
You can do a few things in Dollet. You can visit the Local Pub and head upstairs to the blackjack tables. You can find a copy of Timber Maniacs on one of the tables. If you challenge the manager to a Card game and win, he'll allow you to enter the Pub's private room where he'll give you five Geezard Cards, four Red Bat Cards, three Buel Cards, two Anacondaur Cards and one Cactuar Card. You can also find a copy of Occult Fan II hidden n the magazine stacks, as well as a couple of other items and useful information. In addition, you can win the Siren Card from the manager if you challenge him enough times.
Just down the street fro the Pub you'll find the home of an artist with a problem child. Listen in on the argument and then check out the paining. Follow the artist down to the beach and speak with him and the girl that's with him. They will give you a hint that the bone on the paining is more than it appears. Return to the artist's house and examine the painting again. Do you know where that is? It's a section of Dollet. Go there and you will find a dog. After examining the dog's collar, you'll find a Potion there. You can repeat this two more times to receive a Phoenix Down and a Soft. You don't need to go to the beach every time. Instead, just find the dog in the section shown in the painting. You can obtain an X-Potion, a Mega-Potion and an Elixir if you complete this even during Disc 3.
Deling City Quest
Return to Deling City and visit Rinoa's father again. He admits to having Rinoa's Card, but he says that he rarely uses it. However, if you're willing to give him your Ifrit Card during a Card Game, he'll consider using Rinoa's Card in the game. Start a Card Game and select Ifrit's Card along with four very, very weak Card, for example level 1 Cards. So you know for sure that he'll take the Ifrit Card and that you loose the Card Game. After loosing the Ifrit Card to him (don't worry, you can get it back a little later), he'll start using Rinoa's Card, so win it from him.
You cannot get the Ifrit Card back from him. Instead, head to the one-time headmaster of Galbadia Garden, Martine, who is sitting to the right of Mayor Dobe's House in FH, to whom he already lost the Card. Play Martine to get Ifrit's Card back.
Finding the Ragnarok on Disc 4
The table at the top won't apply for this part, this is just some information on the side. On Disc 4, you can still find the Ragnarok and it is full of people from the CC Group if you've completed that quest up to CC Group King. It's long trip, but you can win some Rare Cards that you may have missed throughout your journey from the CC Group's members. You can also use the Ragnarok to find the Card Queen, who's hiding some where on the World Map.
The journey to the Ragnarok isn't tough, but just very long and slow. After going through the second portal outside Ultimecia's Castle, you'll arrive in Centra's Serengetti Plains are just a bit north of the Centra Ruins. Check the World Map and you'll see a red dot southeast of your position. This is the Ragnarok... However, to reach it, you need to find transportation to get across the ocean and without the Garden, you must rely on Chocobo's.
However, there isn't a Chocobo here, you must get to a Chocobo Forest. Head to the northwest and search your way around the bay to the Chocobo Forest on the northeast tip of the Centra continent. Get a Chocobo an return the way you came. Ride it t the southern border until you spot a beach. Ride across the ocean to the continent below, which will take you very, very close to Edea's House.
From Edea's House, travel to the east along the mountains. However, keep an eye out for a small pass through the middle of the mountain range. On the other side, you'll find the Kashkabald Desert and the Ragnarok. There's a fourth portal near the Ragnarok. Upon entering this portal, a new portal will appear in front of Ultimecia's Castle. Now you can travel to this location any time you want.
