Final Fantasy X

And to think, if you hadn't come floating out of the sea that day...
Quote by: Wakka, talking to Tidus

Legendary Weapons a.k.a. Celestial Weapons

Each character has a specific Legendary Weapon that can be acquired by using the Celestial Mirror. Refer to the Cloudy & Celestial Mirrors section for more info on obtaining the Celestial Mirror. The sole advantage offered by these weapons is that they can penetrate any armour. Unfortunately, when the weapon is first found, it is equipped with the No AP Ability. To remove this Ability and empower the weapon to its full potential, you need to find two specific event items for each character: a Crest and a Sigil.

Upon doing so, you must then return to the Macalania Woods and use Celestial Mirror to power up the weapon at the large spherical crystal high amid the treetops. If you only use one of these two items, you'll simply activate a Double Overdrive Ability without getting rid of the No AP Ability. So to bring the weapon to its full power, you'll need to use both items. It is possible use Customize to combine weapons with the same Abilities as the Celestial Weapons. However, such weapons won't have the same name and will not have any effect on Aeons.

You should also take note of another feature of the Celestial Weapons during battle: if Tidus, Kimahri, Wakka or Rikku lose HP, their respective weapon's effectiveness will decrease. For example, if a character has only 1 HP left, a hit will have just 1/10 of its normal effect. Similarly, Yuna and Lulu's weapons become increasingly less effective the more MP they lose. However, the more HP Auron loses, the stronger his weapon becomes. In fact, if he's about to breathe his last, then the weapon will be twice as powerful as usual.

The names, locations, and items needed to power up the legendary weapons are listed in the following table.

Tidus

Tidus Caladbolg

Location: Calm Lands, North
Abilities: Break Damage Limit
Triple Overdrive
Evade & Counter
Magic Counter
Effect on Aeons: None

In the North-West of the Calm Lands (slightly to the North-East of the spot where you found the Al Bhed Primer XXIII), you'll find a guard blocking the access to a downward slope. He will leave his post each time you win a Catcher Chocobo race. Refer to the Chocobo Training section for more info. You can then examine the Glyph at the bottom of the slope. If you have the Celestial Mirror with you, you will receive the Caladbolg.

Sun Crest: Zanarkand Dome, The Beyond

Go down the stairs in the North. You will reach another room, containing a chest with the Sun Crest. It's best to get this weapon just after you've defeated Lady Yunalesca, otherwise you'll have to wait until you've defeated Dark Bahamut for a chance to get there again. Refer to the Dark Aeons section for more info on Dark Bahamut.

Sun Sigil: Calm Lands

Complete the Catcher Chocobo race in the Calm Lands in a total time of under zero seconds. Refer to the Chocobo Training section for more info.

Yuna

Yuna Nirvana

Location: Calm Lands, Arena
Abilities: Break Damage Limit
Triple Overdrive
Double AP
One MP Cost
Effect on Aeons: Break Damage Limit for Valefor

Use a Capture Weapon to catch one of each of the fiends roaming the Calm Lands, nine in total. The chest containing Nirvana will appear after you talk to the Arena Owner.

Moon Crest: Besaid Island, Beach

Remember where Tidus woke up before meeting Wakka? It was in the sea of Besaid Island. If you face the beach, swim to the right and there's another small beach. There, you'll find a chest containing the Moon Crest.

Moon Sigil: Remiem Temple

You must have all eight Aeons, and you must also defeat all of Belgemine's Aeons and send her to the Farplane. Refer to the section of Remiem Temple for more info.

Wakka

Wakka World Champion

Location: Luca, Cafe
Abilities: Break Damage Limit
Triple Overdrive
Double AP
Evade & Counter
Effect on Aeons: Break Damage Limit for Ifrit

Talk to the person behind the counter in Luca's Cafe. As well as the Celestial Mirror, Blitzball success if vital if you want to obtain the weapon. You must have gained at least third place in a League or a Tournament, or have recorded a total of over 100 victories. Then you'll be presented with the Legendary Weapon, World Champion.

Jupiter Crest: Luca Stadium, Locker Room

Fly to Luca and open one of the lockers in the Locker Room of the Besaid Aurochs.

Jupiter Sigil: Blitzball League

If Wakka has learnt the Attack Reels, Status Reels and Aurochs Reels Overdrive techniques (Refer to Wakka's Overdrive section for more info), the Sigil will be offered as first prize in a Blitzball League. This means that you must meet the following conditions step by step:

1. The Attack Reels are sometimes offered as prizes for a Tournament victory, so win the Tournament.
2. Once you have the Attack Reels, you'll have to fight 250 battles, and these are battles against fiends rather than mere Blitzball games. The Status Reels will then be offered as a reward for gaining first-place in the next League season. This means that you must first complete a League and then finish the subsequent League in first place.
3. Once you have the Status Reels, you'll have to fight a further 450 battles against fiends, after which the Aurochs Reels will be offered as a reward for gaining first place in a Tournament.
4.Once you have the Aurochs Reels, there is a 50% chance that the Jupiter Sigil will be offered as a reward for gaining first place in the next League season. That means that you must play in the current League until the last play date. Then you should save your game, proceed beyond the final play date and take a look to see whether the next season's victors will be offered the Sigil. If not, reload your saved game and try again.

Bring the Rusty Sword to the statue of Lord Mi'ihen on the Mushroom Rock Road, to the North-East of the turning leading to the Valley. Access to this area was previously prevented by Clasko. Examine the statue and place the Rusty Sword before the statue, to reveal a Glyph. If you now examine this Glyph with the Celestial Mirror, Auron will receive his Legendary Weapon.
